CONTEST #3 - pick the winners and the score of each game

This contest will actually be two contests in one;
3a and 3b.
Use these rules if you wish to enter all contests.

Information required:

1) name, address(city, state), e-mail address,
team affiliation (optional), league affiliation (optional).

2) for each game, choose the winning team and the
    final score.

3)for the total tournament, predict how many games go
into OT and the total goals scored in the tournament.

The scoring rules for 3a are as follows:
(3b is very similar and will follow rules for 3a)

Contest 3a scoring:

1) For each first round game (games 1-4 where all
participants are known in advance), 5 points will be
awarded for picking the winning team. In addition,
having picked the winner and the score, you will have
predicted how many goals each team will score.
Additional points will be awarded as follows:
  a) predict the exact number of goals scored by either
team and 3 points will be awarded (picking both
teams' score gets you 6 points).
  b) if your predicted number of goals for either team is
off by one, 2 points are awarded
  c) if your predicted number of goals for either team is
off by two, 1 point is awarded

YOU MUST PICK THE WINNING TEAM TO GET
POINTS AWARDED FOR NUMBER OF GOALS.
Even if you pick the exact score, you will be awarded
zero points if you have not correctly picked the winning
team . However you need not have picked the losing team.
An example will follow item 3.

2) For each second round game (games 5-8 where only
one of the participants are known in advance), 7 points
will be awarded for picking the winning team. In addition,
having picked the winner and the score, you will have
predicted how many goals each team will score.
Additional points will be awarded as follows:
a) predict the number of goals scored by either team and
    3 points will be awarded
b) if your predicted number of goals for either team is
off by one, 2 points are awarded
c) if your predicted number of goals for either team is
off by two, 1 point is awarded

YOU MUST PICK THE WINNING TEAM TO GET
POINTS AWARDED FOR NUMBER OF GOALS.
Even if you pick the exact score, you will be awarded zero
points if you have not correctly picked the winning team .
However you need not have picked the losing team.
An example will follow item 3.

3) For each game of the Phrozen Phour (games 9-11 where
none of the participants are known in advance),
9 points will be awarded for picking the winning team.
In addition, having picked the winner and the score,
you will have predicted how many goals each team
will score. Additional points will be awarded
    as follows:
a) predict the number of goals scored by either team and
    3 points will be awarded
b) if your predicted number of goals for either team is off
by one, 2 points are awarded
c) if your predicted number of goals for either team is off
by two, 1 point is awarded

YOU MUST PICK THE WINNING TEAM TO GET POINTS
AWARDED FOR NUMBER OF GOALS.
Even if you pick the exact score, you will be awarded zero
points if you have not correctly picked the winning team .
However you need not have picked the losing team.
For example, if you picked RPI over Wisconsin in the
finals ;-) by a score of 3-2 , and that was exactly correct,
you would get 9 points for picking the winner, 3 points for
picking the winners score and 3 more for picking the
loser's score. If, however, the final game was 3-2, RPI
over Michigan, your score would be exactly the same.
If, however, RPI lost the game :-( you would get 0 points.

4) If, at the end of the tournament, the preceding does not
determine a winner, the first tiebreaker will be the
total number of games that go into OT. If the number
of OT games does not determine a winner, the second
tiebreaker used will be the total goals scored in the
tournament. You must specify the total number of goals
scored in the appropriate line in the tiebreaker section
of the entry form. If that line is left blank, I will use
zero for the total goals scored.

If no winner is determined after tiebreakers, co-winners
will be declared

Contest 3b:
This contest is exactly the same as 3a with one exception.
The points awarded for predicting the correct number of
goals will be awarded regardless of the teams .
Using the previous example: If you chose Boston University
over North Dakota 3-2 and RPI beat Wisconsin 3-2, you would
get 3 points for picking the winner's score exactly and 3 points
for picking the loser's score exactly. Obviously, you would
not get any points for picking the winner.

Contest 3b was designed for those who were eliminated
earlier for failing to choose the winners in the earlier rounds.
If you were extraordinarily good at predicting scores,
this would give you a chance to win something rather than
being out of the running early in the contest. Besides, I'm
doing this all in Lotus 1-2-3 and it's very little extra work
on my part.

Enter and enjoy!!!
