If the Big Red isn't going to win the ECAC themselves, they've got to hope for
Clarkson to win it and that UNH or BU wins Hockey East. Upsets in either
tournament would put Cornell in a lot of trouble bid-wise (it looks like, at
#6E, they would be competing with CC at #7W for that last spot, and CC is just
one PWR point and 0.0039 in the RPI tiebreaker behind them now). Upset winners
in both Eastern tournaments would end Cornell's season, as mentioned above.

It would seem for me that Cornell would want any and all high ranked teams to
win their tournaments
(Michigan, Minn, Denver, UND, even MSU, Clarkson, Miami, UNH or BU). They are
12th in the PWR
right now, 11th among qualifying teams. If any two teams from among the lower
eschelon take the
spots from CC and Cornell, or if Cornell fails miserably in the ECACs and SCSU
and/or Princeton
does well (even if they don't win, Cornell will be in danger). Cornell plays 2
TUC this weekend, no
matter what the result, and they could have a large effect on their PWR.

My terse assessment: if Cornell wins on Friday, and loses to Clarkson
Saturday, they're in unless two
upsets occur in other divisions, if Cornell loses on Friday and wins on
Saturday vs. Princeton, same
story...if they win on Friday and lose on Saturday to Princeton, they're in
trouble, or if they lose on
Friday and win on Saturday vs. Clarkson, they're in trouble. 2 losses would
pretty much put them on
the outside, unless all favorites win and SCSU and Princeton have bad weekends.
