na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye
As the unofficial NMU anti-fan, I am both saddened and gladdened by the
news that NMU has "gone home" to the CCHA. As a former Marquette
resident and NMU student, I feel the CCHA is where NMU belongs. Local
fan interest and media coverage of the CCHA is strong and renewing ties
with the CCHA should give NMU better exposure.
I have but one request of the powers at NMU: Now that you've "gone
home", stay put!
I am kind of bummed out that I won't be able to cheer NMU to defeat at
least two games a year:(
I also believe that the rivalry with MTU, although slightly diminished in
its importance, will survive. I predict that MTU and NMU will play a
non-conference home and home series sometime during each season so the
Ramada Cup can be awarded. This series should also boost the schools
non-conference game attendence!
As for MTU leaving the WCHA, I would be very surprised. MTU has a long
history in the WCHA and if anyone cares to look at a map (this has been
pointed out on this list before) MTU's travel expenses would not improve.
