Sean Pickett <[log in to unmask]> writes on INFO-HOCKEY-L:
>The Boston Globe reported today in its weekly college hockey notebook

>time since 1973. The report mentioned that Ben Smith was the major force
>behind having a holiday tournament in Boston again, as Northeastern will

This is great news...thanks, Sean! It helps those of us who don't get to
see the Globe that often.

A couple of interesting notes regarding the participants:

* Besides NU and BU, Princeton and Notre Dame have Boston-area connections.
Princeton coach Don Cahoon is a BU grad, and Notre Dame coach Dave Poulin
is a former player for the Boston Bruins.

* Between this tourney, HE, and the Beanpot, NU and BU could meet as many
as five times in the regular season that year.

With all of the new tourneys that have been popping up in recent years, is
it going to be much longer before we see the four major DivI Catholic
schools meet for the "Vatican Cup"? :-) (BC, Notre Dame, Merrimack,
Providence)
