Someone (a MAINE FAN!) mentioned something about how there was
a lot of respect going around - Maine cheering Maine and BU
cheering BU, and for the first time in a long time, I have to agree with
someone from Maine.
 
Being in the BU Pep Band, I've been taunted, ridiculed, made fun of,
had soda poured on me, and all but killed on the way out of some arenas.
I remember particularly the 1993 Hockey East Tournament at the Boston
Garden where there was a section of Maine fans right next to us.  I don't
think they even saw the game, they were too busy making sure that we
knew that BU Sucked.  We did lose that game, and damn if the Maine fans
didn't let us know it.
 
There were a few incidents this year in Providence.  Surprisingly, the
Maine fans were more roudy during the BU - Minn. game than during the
finals.  They were talking trash about how they'd just won and how BU didn't
stand a chance.  once the final game started, the only person saying anything
*bad* was some drunk guy who was rooting for Maine.  Of course, he was wearing
a BC sweatshirt, so he was more than likely just not rooting BU.  Oh well.
 
Anyway, I have a little more respect now for the *average* Maine fan (and
I apologize for stereotyping - I know they aren't ALL like that).  Here's
to looking for the repeat.
