Everybody now:
Sieve! Sieve! Sieve!
That's for anyone who thinks the "sieve chant" is unsportspersonlike.
Let me relate an incident regarding the sieve chant. I was at the
Saturday night, first round game of the Wisconsin/Northern Michigan
series. Between some periods, a drawing was held where the holder of
that ticket stub got a lottery ticket (wow.). Well, the guy was in
the beer garden or somewhere else, and the fans all around his seat
chanted "sieve" at the empty seat.
How does this relate to the question of sportspersonship? I don't
know. But it was funny. And whenever visiting teams score on the
Badgers, you can bet that their contingent of fans are up on their
feet chanting something or other.
