As a follow-up on the references made by Mike Zak and Jeremy Hall on how
difficult it is to come away with points on the North Country road trip,
here are the current home records of ECAC teams:

                   League Overall
Team W L T Pct. W L T Pct.

You can see from the above that it might not be such a good idea for
Clarkson to close down Walker Arena. Overall, ECAC teams are 65-44-11 at
home in league games for a 58.8 winning percentage, and they are 82-56-12
for 58.7% in all games.

As far as the toughest road trip is concerned, here's how the traveling
partners stack up at home:

                            League Overall
Teams W L T Pct. W L T Pct.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Clarkson-St. Lawrence 19 2 1 88.6% 25 4 1 85.0%
Colgate-Cornell 10 4 4 66.7% 11 5 4 65.0%
Brown-Yale 12 8 2 59.1% 13 11 3 53.7%
RPI-Vermont 11 10 1 52.3% 14 13 1 51.8%
Dartmouth-Harvard 8 9 1 47.2% 8 11 1 42.5%
Army-Princeton 5 11 2 33.3% 11 12 2 48.0%

And indeed it's true that the North Country trip has been by far the most
difficult this season.

The story is somewhat different when the teams hit the road. Here are the
current records of the ECAC teams away from their home fans:

                   League Overall
Team W L T Pct. W L T Pct.
-------------------------------------------------------
RPI 7 2 0 77.8% 9 4 0 69.2%
Vermont 6 2 1 72.2% 10 4 1 70.0%
Cornell 7 3 1 68.2% 7 5 1 57.7%
St. Lawrence 5 3 1 61.1% 6 6 1 50.0%
Clarkson 5 4 0 55.6% 7 6 0 53.8%
Colgate 4 5 2 45.5% 10 6 2 61.1%
Harvard 4 6 1 40.9% 4 9 1 32.1%
Brown 2 6 1 27.8% 2 8 1 22.7%
Yale 2 6 1 27.8% 2 7 1 25.0%
Princeton 2 9 0 18.2% 2 11 0 15.4%
Army 1 9 1 13.6% 1 10 2 15.4%
Dartmouth 0 10 1 4.5% 1 14 1 9.4%

Away from home, ECAC teams are 44-65-11, 41.3% in league games and 60-90-12,
40.7% overall. The records by traveling partners:

                            League Overall
Teams W L T Pct. W L T Pct.
----------------------------------------------------------------
RPI-Vermont 13 4 1 75.0% 19 8 1 69.6%
Clarkson-St. Lawrence 10 7 1 58.3% 13 12 1 51.9%
Colgate-Cornell 11 8 3 56.8% 17 11 3 59.7%
Brown-Yale 4 12 2 27.8% 4 15 2 23.8%
Dartmouth-Harvard 3 16 3 20.5% 4 23 3 18.3%
Army-Princeton 3 18 1 15.9% 3 21 2 15.4%

It's interesting to note that while most of the rest of the ECAC is 20
percentage points or worse on the road than at home, both RPI and Vermont
have done significantly better away from their friendly confines. (True to
form, when these traveling partners played each other in back-to-back games
in January, they each won at the other's home rink) This performance on the
road does not bode particularly well for Cornell, which must face these two
at Lynah this weekend and will likely need a sweep to hang on to first
place.

LET'S GO RED!!

"He'll scream from the 60th row of the stands that you missed a marginal call
in the interior line, then he'll go out in the parking lot and won't be able
 to find his car."
