Well, I sufficiently had my weekend ruined when I received the following
bit of information on Saturday. And now, the computing system in my
building being fully restored (independent incident from the following),
I am able to share the news with the handful of other Wolverine fans
out there (and anyone else that may be interested).

Michigan senior co-captain Cam Stewart has opted to join the Boston
Bruins organization rather than return for his final year. Stewart
was the heart and soul of this team. He registered 59 points and 69
penalty minutes in 39 games as a junior. Coupled with the potential/
apparent loss of senior David Oliver to the Canadian Olympic team,
Michigan enters 1993-94 without its top four defensemen and five of
its top six forwards from 1992-93.

The Wolverines will still have a strong team this year, but we're
falling from the ranks of the elite one player at a time.

On a side note, sophomore Ryan Sittler has opted to RETURN to Michigan.
Sittler was chosen 7th overall in the 1992 NHL draft by Philadelphia
and the Flyers asked him to leave school and play in the OHL in 1993-94.
Sittler refused. I can understand the Flyer's point of view in this
situation -- Sittler has never played a *full* season of hockey. He's
one of those rare folks (among those that I know) that played for his
high school team rather than juniors. He appeared in 35 games for
Michigan last season and a handful of others for Team USA, and that was
probably his longest season. I assume Philadelphia wants him to go
through the grind of a 60-70 game season before turning pro.

P.S. I haven't seen the Stewart news published anywhere, but I've
picked up the info from very reliable sources (including
teammates), so I feel comfortable passing it along as fact.
