The College Hockey Discussion List Poll for January 27, 1993:
Teams were given 15 points for a first-place vote, 14 for a second-place
vote, and so on down to 1 point for a fifteenth-place vote. Total first-
place votes are in parentheses.
Bye-bye to the Gophers: Minnesota's two losses to Minnesota-Duluth not only
hurt them on the ice and in the WCHA standings, they also contributed to the
Golden Gophers' being left out of the Top 15 of the HOCKEY-L poll for the
first time ever. We're now down to four teams who have made every poll:
Maine, Michigan, Lake Superior, and Wisconsin. Among the newcomers this
week was New Hampshire, who was one point out of the 15th spot last week but
got enough votes this week to make the poll for the first time this year.
One administrative note: Be sure to check your responses before sending
them in. A couple votes this week had the same team listed twice. Thanks
from your friendly neighborhood poll-meister!

We're starting to get some interesting differences between the Eastern and
Western responses. Particularly noteworthy are the cases of Harvard and
Miami below. The Crimson are ranked well ahead of the Redskins by the
Eastern crowd, while Miami gets the nod in the West. Also note the appear-
ance of St. Cloud in the Western column and not in the Eastern votes. It
seems familiarity does not always breed contempt (but then, what is Minne-
sota doing in the Eastern column?)
