Well, I'll call this the first official week of TCHCR. All that means
is that you may see it popping up other places besides H-L. Hopefully
The Hockey News will make room for it again this year. Feel free to
spread the word and pass TCHCR on to coaches, reporters, friends, or
billionaires you may know.

One change from the un-official stuff--I got rid of Army. They had only
played 2 games, were only going to have 7 vs the other 43 by season's
end, plus they do not even qualify for the NCAA tournament because they
are playing only 15 Division I games (8 vs. other non-tournament I
teams). It is a sad day for Division I hockey, but Army has fallen by
the way-side and joined the Holy Crosses and Canisiuses of the world.
If I get *really* REALLY ambitious, I may try to do a
"Division-I-but-not-eligible-for-the-tournament" rating, but I'd need
some help from a coach on the inside (nudge, nudge).

Anyway, down to 43 teams now. I tried adding UAH and Mankato, since
they have decent schedules (even better than Army's), but it made the
"connectivity" even worse, so I am limiting TCHCR to only the teams
eligible for the big dance.

I am still working on the question and answer session, plus an update
to the "Inside TCHCR" document for the new season. If they could just
delay Christmas for a week, I am sure I could catch up! (^;

PERFORMANCE is based on won-lost record only; game sites and margin of
victory are not considered, for example. Performance ranges from +100
(for an undefeated and untied team) to -100 (for a winless and untied
team), with a .500 winning percentage getting a zero performance.

SCHEDULE is the average rating of a team's opponents.

RATING is the sum of performance and schedule and represents an
evaluation of how each team has done so far with respect to the rest of
college hockey.

Based on 266 Division I games.
