During the second intermission of last Friday's Cornell-Harvard game, the
Cornell radio announcers talked a little with Joe Bertagna, the executive
director of ECAC hockey, about Army's leaving the ECAC after this season.
Bertagna mentioned that while Union was one of the teams under consideration
for replacing the Cadets, the Dutchmen were going to have a 10-game schedule
next year against what he called "Division II" teams. I assume he means the
ECAC East-West squads. Anyway, if Union were to move up to Division I next
year, those teams would have some holes in their schedules.

Bertagna also said that the switch in traveling partners was not supposed to
happen until the 1992-93 season, at least before Army announced its decision
to go independent.

"But weightlifting misses the whole point. It amazes me that no one has ever
figured this out. A man can make any part of his body HUGE -- except one.
And that, by contrast, looks smaller."
