Summary:

Colgate jumped out to a 3-0 lead just 3 minutes into the game, and the
Dutchmen could never recover, as Colgate beat Union 7-2. Union goalie
Mike Gallant lasted just 3:01, giving up 3 goals on 4 shots before
being replaced by Luigi Villa. Villa played well for most of the
game, except a 52 second span late in the 3rd when Colgate scored 3
times to put the game out of reach. Union did get 2 goals from Craig
Ferrero, both on the power play. It was really a game decided on
goaltending, as Union was outshot by just 36-33 for the game. Shawn
Murray was outstanding in goal for the Raiders. He frustrated Union
several times as they tried to climb back into the game.

Union is now 1-17-1 in the ECAC, 2-19-1 overall. Colgate is 9-10-0 in
the league, 12-14-1 overall. Union will complete their road schedule
this afternoon at Cornell, who defeated RPI 3-1 last night. RPI will
travel to Colgate.

Union notes:

- Rick Burchill will miss today's game as he sits out a suspension for
fighting in last night's game. He was ejected from the game along
with Colgate's Bruce Gardiner for a fight at the end of the 2nd
period.

- Coach Delventhal has announced that Senior goalie Shayne White will
get a chance to play next weekend against Yale. Saturday night will
be Senior Appreciation Night at Achilles. White was 8-3-1 with a 3.47
GAA last season, with the Dutchmen playing in Division III.
