PROVIDENCE'S DiSALVATORE INVITED TO
U.S. NATIONAL JUNIOR TEAM EVALUATION CAMP

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College sophomore forward Jon DiSalvatore
(S. Windsor, Conn.) was one of 53 players invited to attend the U.S.
National Junior Team Evaluation Camp to be held on August 2-5 at the
Olympic Center in Lake Placid, N.Y. From the 53 players attending the
Evaluation Camp, USA Hockey will select a team to represent the United
States at the USA Hockey Summer Challenge, which will be held next month.
DiSalvatore, a 6-foot-1-inch, 185-pound right wing, finished fourth on the
team in scoring (27 points) and second in goals last season for the Friars.
He also led the team with a plus/minus rating of nine in 1999-00. His 15
goals was the most recorded by a Friar rookie since Craig Darby notched 17
in 1991-92. For his efforts, he earned the team's Plus/Minus Award and the
Reverend Herman Schneider Award, which is given to the most valuable
freshman. Prior to attending Providence, DiSalvatore played for the New
England Coyotes of the EJHL.
All Evaluation Camp attendees are prospective players for the 2001 U.S.
National Junior Team, which will compete in the 2001 International Ice
Hockey Federation World Junior Championship on December 26-January 5 in
Moscow and Podolsk, Russia. The roster for the 2001 U.S. National Junior
Team will be announced in December.
