Back in 1985, Thanksgiving weekend, RPI played host to RIT. They had both
won their respective NC$$ division championship the previous spring. RPI
won that game 3-1, but the score was tied 1-1 through to the last 1:10 of
the third period. RPI added an empty-net goal to ice it, but the two teams
  played a very even game.

That was back in RIT's glory years, when they won two national titles
(1983/85) and came in third twice (84/86), under Brian Mason (who went to
Dartmouth, I believe) and Bruce Delventhal (now at Union). RIT also won
the SIT (Syracuse Invitational) in 1985/86, and played in it a few other
times. They used to schedule 6-8 Div. I games each year, including an
annual game at Clarkson, but with all of the NC$$ scheduling cutbacks, that
is harder to do. Even one of the Alaskan teams (Anchorage, I believe) came
to Rochester in that time frame, and RIT went north the next year.
