Thank you to Arthur for providing us with this sad news and with the details
on this weekend's Colgate game postponements.  I'm sorry to say I never had
the occasion to have contact with Coach Slater, unlike some other folks on
this list (especially ECAC folks), but I want to add my sympathy to his family
and prayers from myself and also from those of us at Merrimack.  I've never
heard anything negative about Coach Slater, and I'm sure that's reflective of
the type of person he has been both on and off the ice.
 
I was fortunate enough to have been at the 1990 ECAC Championship Game (had
to run crosstown from Boston College where the Hockey East Championship had
just ended) where Colgate completed its sweep of the ECAC regular season and
tournament titles, and I'm happy to have been present for what was probably
the pinnacle of his coaching career.
 
US college hockey loses another good one.
