UMass-Lowell moves into sole posession of first place in HE
with a 4 - 2 victory over the NU Huskies last night. Lowell
never trailed in one, and extends it's HE record to 3-0-0,
topess in HE. Meanwhile NU is still without a victory in HE,
dropping to 0-3-0.

Lowell got on top early in the first when Tucker notched his
first of the season at the 1:11 mark. That was it for the
scoring in the first period.

Northeastern came back and tied it early in the second when
Rob Kenney scored on the power-play at the 29 second mark of
the second. Northeaster dominated the second period, with the
help of 5 Lowell penalties, but failed to take the lead.

NU started the third on the power play, but again failed to
score. Lowell took the lead for good at the 4:22 mark when
Pensa nocked in a Daley rebound, making it 2-1 Lowell. Once
Lowell got the lead, they decided to play solid defense and
try to win the game 2-1. NU got several excellent scoring
chances, but Lowell netminder Dwayne Roloson came up big when
he had too. NU's Geoff Lucas put NU behind the 8 ball when
he took a "Hitting from behind" penalty with just 3:43 remain-
ing in the game and the Huskies trailing 2-1. Lowell took
advantage of the NU mistake scoring on the powerplay at the
17:02 mark, taking a 3-1 lead. NU came right back, Jason
Melong scored his first goal as a Husky at 18:27, and it
was just a one goal game with a minute and a half left to
go. Then with goaltender Tom Cole out of the net, NU's
Matt Saunders took a stupid crosschecking penalty and the
Huskies chances looked bleek. Lowell scored on the power
play, with the net empty, and won 4-2.
