I think I'll use a baseball example to illustrate the best way to
appropriately heckle an opponent: with humour. When Jose Canseco played
with Oakland we bleacher creatures at Fenway Park were heckling him with
chants of "STEROIDS, STEROIDS" in a similar tone to the chants of the
last name of a goaltender being harrassed. After a bit of this Canseco
looked around at us and started flexing his muscles to the amusement of
us, and him as well.
I don't know if we were over the line, but Canseco took it well, and I
had a harder time objectifying him as a "hated" opponent after this incident.
