Well, 2300 (or 2800) is perhaps a bit small for a full-fledged Div. I rink,
but there are currently Div. I rinks that are smaller than that (this info
is from the HOCKEY-L TEAMINFO file in the archives):

Ohio State (OSU Ice Rink) 1410
(though OSU will be playing in a new rink, maybe in a year or two)
     Yale (Ingalls Rink) 2098
     Princeton (Baker Rink) 2100
     Colgate (Starr Rink) 2200
     Miami (Goggin Ice Arena) 2200

     Union (Achilles Rink) 2504
     Army (Tate Rink) 2549
Ferris State (Ewigleben Ice Arena) 2573
Air Force (Cadet Ice Arena) 2635

And Harvard's Bright Hockey Center is only slightly larger, at 2850 (plus
standing room tix).

But it is interesting that they're building two ice surfaces, plus all those
locker rooms and conference areas. It kind of sounds like they are shooting
for full-blown Division I status in the future.
