1. I believe the rule about helmets, at least in the CCHA, is that a player
needs to go directly to the bench to replace his helmet. No stoppage in play
is required, but the player is not allowed to participate in play any more.
It sounds, from Michael's post, like the same rule is used in the ECAC, so
maybe it's an NC$$ rule. In the NHL, where helmets are optional anyway, it
just doesn't matter.

2. While I don't like instant replay, and I don't think the NC$$ should add
it, I think Mike' second objection to it can be overcome. I've usually heard
the replay guys either rule it a goal, not a goal, or no evidence, and the call
stands. Thus, if the NC$$ were to adopt replay, it would probably be set up
such that there would be no penalty if there was no evidence either way. I
definitely think a bench minor should be assessed wherever possible, though.
Good Lord, let's not see the NFL all over again. However, too many problems,
such as lack of equipment (especially in the smaller programs), and the fact
that refs are just usually right, and screw up about equally for each team,
still count against replay. IMO, you pays your money, and you takes your
chances.
