In a masterpiece of non-information, the colorado springs gazette
telegraph provided the following in its BRIEFING column on page 2 of
the sports section under the subheading SMORGASBOARD (along with
similarly brief items on Daly returning to the PGA tour and Ramos
signing with MLS) and is quoted without permission from the paper.
 
                        DU tells AD he can go
    The University of Denver released athletic director Jack McDonald
    from his contract eight months before the five-year deal was to
    expire.  McDonald came to DU in 1990 from Boston College, where he
    had been assistant athletic director.  Phillip Hogue, a DU trustee
    since 1990, was named interim director of athletics.
