Just a small and yet perhaps significant point. Carol White's report on
the SCSU-Gopher game on Saturday says that three fish heads were thrown
on the ice at one point for no apparent reason. The Minnesota Daily
reporter identifies the three objects as dead gophers. Which was it? If
it was gophers the symbolic significance is obvious and obviously missed-
placed given the outcome of the games. But what if indeed it was fish
heads? Of what symbolic or emblematic significance could this be. Were
these SCSU philosophy students who were reaching into the ancient iconic
bag to make some esoteric, and yet brilliant statement about the game,
the ice, or the meaning of existence in St.Cloud? What are we to think?

For those of us caught in the deep recesses of the warm climates and out
of touch with the essentials of hockey culture in recent times, and who
see college hockey only on the "Sunshine Network" some discussion of all
of these kinds of symbolic and emblematic behaviors would be welcome.
