Northeastern jumped out to a 5-1 lead late in the first period but had to hold
on for dear life in a 6-5 victory at North Dakota Saturday, Oct. 22. The Sioux
spotted the Huskies the big lead early with Aube, Melong, Collett, Persson and
MacNair scoring, while Keith Murphy and Brian Zierke countered for the Sioux.
North Dakota goalie Jeff Lembke left the game after surrendering four goals in
the first 12:55 of the game. Early in the second period, however, Huskies
goalie Todd Reynolds left the game with an injury and the momentum shifted
completely. North Dakota dominated the last two periods, outshooting N'eastern
26-12 and outscoring the Huskies 3-1. Teeder Wynne scored on a PPG before
NU's Scott Campbell tallied to make it 6-3 after two periods. North Dakota's
Scott Kirton and Bill Trew scored third period goals and the Sioux came very
close to tying the game several times.

Final shots were 33-26 in favor of the Sioux. UND was 2-for-6 on the power-
play while the Huskies were 0-for-2.
