I'm a Gopher fan from the Twin Cities, and I've always* known better than that!
You just pointed out that the UMD Bulldogs were national runners up in '84. And
I don't think you can call either of the last two years' league champs (UMD &
CC) a perennial doormat! :-) Also, DU was in the Phinal Phour in '86. But I
think Tony and I are in basic agreement that, in the WCHA, teams may go in
cycles and be down for a couple years, but nobody is ever really so far out of
it that they can't comeback and challenge the rest of the league in a year or
two.
*okay, this is a slight exaggeration. Truth-in-posting requires that I admit I
wasn't BORN knowing this. :-)
