MERRIMACK APPOINTS GERAGOSIAN ASSISTANT COACH

(The following text came from the release published in the Lawrence
Eagle-Tribune, Friday, July 15, 1994.)

"Yesterday, Athletic Director Bob DeGregorio appointed...ex-UMass-Lowell
assistant Mike Geragosian to the ice hockey program.

Geragosian, a former standout goaltender at Lowell Tech and then ULowell,
will assist head coach Ron Anderson in all aspects of the Warrior program,
 with particular concentration in goaltending.

A former member of the United States Olympic Team Selection Committee and
well-respected tutor at several area clinics, the Wakefield (Mass.) native
started four years in goal for the Cincinnati Stingers of the old World
 Hockey Association.

'We are very happy and fortunate to have someone of Mike's caliber join
 our staff,' said Anderson."
END

Here is some information I dug up from some old Mass Lowell media
guides on Geragosian.

His college career spanned four years from 1971 to 1975. He ranks sixth
on the all-time minutes played list for Lowell goalies with 3851, behind
only Dana Demole, Dwayne Roloson, Brian Doyle, Mark Richards, and Dave
Delfino. He had a career GAA of 3.83 in 65 games, second among that list
of six entering the 1993-94 season (Roloson's senior year); only Doyle's
3.26 was lower, and Roloson's was 4.16 through 1993.

Geragosian's save percentage was .893 and he posted a record of 34-31-1
for Lowell. In his senior year, he was named to the New England Hockey
Writers Association All-Star Team, the first Lowell player ever to achieve
that honor. Lowell had its best campaign to date in that season,
finishing 14-8-0, 13-7-0 ECAC Division II. Geragosian was in net for
all decisions that year and had a GAA of 3.27. As a freshman, he made
62 saves in an ECAC playoff loss to Vermont, a record that, according to
the 1990-91 Lowell guide, still stands today.

He served as assistant coach in charge of goaltenders for Lowell under
former coach Bill Riley through the 1990-91 season, Riley's last year
at the helm of the (then) Chiefs.

Mike Geragosian joins Stu Irving and Andy Heinze as assistants to Ron
Anderson.
