"Traumatized"? It was Ploszek's (note the spelling) responsibility to
take care of things properly after hearing about the mess. What kind
of excuse is that?

This conclusion is flat-out wrong. When Carville went to Ploszek
with the bad news (Carville should have been more traumatized than
Ploszek), Ploszek told him to get lost and he'd take care of things.
What was Carville supposed to do? His boss told him not to worry
and things would be taken care of. Ploszek admits to lying to Car-
ville.
