The Minnesota Gophers had quite a weekend with a sweep of North Dakota (4-1
and 11-5). The Gopher Seniors came up BIG Saturday for eight of the 11 goals
scored, and 6 assists!! Ken Gernander had four goals, Luke Johnson had a goal
and three assists, Grant Bischoff had a goal and two assists, Jason Miller had
two goals, and Jake Enebak had an assist. Scoring the other three goals were:
Craig Johnson (two goals), and Nick Gerebi. Larry Olimb had four assists and
Trent Klatt had three assists. Travis Richards and Doug Zmolek each had two
assists and Sean Fabian had one assist.

The Gopher's Jeff Stolp won WCHA goaltending honors. Northern's Bill Pye went
into last weekend with a 2.78 goals-against average to Stolp's 2.79. Stolp was
at his best in Friday's 4-1 victory over North Dakota.

Northern coach Rick Comley gave Pye Friday night off. Woog considered playing
Stolp on Saturday night but stuck to his original plan and used sophomore Tom
Newman in the 11-5 victory. At Madison, Pye was back in the Northern nets for
a 4-3 overtime victory Saturday night.

Pye slipped slightly but remained at 2.78 goals-against. Stolp moved up to
2.71 to top the statistics and also had the league's top save percentage
 at .896.
