The WCHA also starts its conference playoffs with 8 teams. For the last few
seasons, while the WCHA has had 8 teams, all teams were automatically in the
playoffs. This year, with the addition of St. Cloud State, one team will
be eliminated at the end of the season.

Do the ECAC and Hockey East do something different?
