BU scored twice in the third period to sneak past the
the struggling Huskies, 4-3, and tie BC for first place
 in HE.

The Terriers tied it, 3-3, at the 12:11 mark of the third
period when David Sacco beat Tom Cole to the glove side
from 15 feet. BU went on top to stay, 4-3, just 1:34 later.
when Dave Tomlinson fed Darin MacDonald in the slot and
MacDonald snapped a quick shot thru the 5-hole past Cole.

BU dominated play in the first period, outshooting NU 20-6
however NU held a 2-1 advantage at the end of one. Tom Cole
played a tremendous game between the pipes for the Huskies,
at one point, with about 6 1/2 minutes gone, BU had outshot
NU 13-1. However, that one shot was a goal. Peter Schure
netted his seventh of the season with a 25-footer from the
left circle, at 5:21. Cole made some unbelievable stops
early to keep the Huskies close. Tomlinson scored his 17th
at 8:16 tieing the score at 1-1. The Hounds went back on
top at the 9:06 mark when Sebastien Laplante scored his team
leading 17th with a 20-footer from the left side. Cole came
up big again when he stopped Tony Amonte cold with just over
three minutes left in the period. BU outshot Northeastern
20-6 in the period, and 41-29 for the game.

The second period was a full of faced paced up and down hockey.
BU tied the game at 2 each on a Phil von Stefenelli blast from
the right point. But with just 41 seconds left in the period
NU regained the lead. Matt Saunders let go a shot from the point
that glanced off Brian Sullivan's leg and into the net. The puck
struck the support in the back of the net and came right back into
play. No light went on and the referee was unclear as to what
had happened. One of the Linesmen immediately skated over and
signaled "GOAL". About half way through the period, a BU shot off
the stick of Tomlinson struck Tommy Cole square in the helmet.
Cole went down with a gash above his right eye. The trainer patched
him up and Cole continued, but between periods he received 6 stitches
 in the locker-room.

This was a tough loss for the Northeastern players to swallow. They
were in a game with a team that is ranked in the top 10 in the country
and had a chance to win. As Mike Machnik previously mentioned, the
Huskies aren't as bad as their record has shown. This is a tallented
hockey club, that through injuries and bad luck is having trouble winning.
Northeastern has lost twice to BU at BU this season. Both games have
been very very close. In the first game, November 27, the score was
knotted at 5 after two. BU scored 3 third period goal to win. NU has
the ability to pull of an upset of one of the top team come playoff time,
especially with the one game quarterfinals in HE this season.

 Let's go Hounds!
 Keep the faith.
