Now to be fair, there is actually logic behind this.  If one assumes the
two "best" college hockey teams are split so that one is in the east and
one is in the west, this system says they should meet in the final.  If
they are both in one side of the bracket though, this allows them to
still meet in the final, as is assumed should be.  What doesn't work
is for 1E to play 2W or vice versa, but if they've done their seeding
"right," this should allow the two "best" to play for the chamionship.
 
For the trivia types, when was the last time 1E played 1W for the title?
How many times has it ever happened for that matter?
