MINNESOTA 5 WISCONSIN 3
---------------------------

Wisconsin gave up two goals in the first 1:30. They definitely were not as
quick as Minn. at the start. Wis got one back about 3 minutes later as
Stolp gave up a big rebound and Francisco knocked it in. Overall play
was ragged. Score: Minn 2 Wis 1
Second period was a lot more interesting. Both teams worked really hard
forechecking. Minn got a goal by Klatt(?) on a bad angle shot that he
ripped over Duane Derksen's shoulder. Wis got a power play goal on a nice
redirection by Snedden. Minn got another goal but my memory is a bit
foggy here. Good play by both teams but a few silly penalties slowed down
the action some. Score: Minn 4 Wis 2
Third period was very chippy. A couple of wrestling matches occurred and
lots of penalties were called. Both teams scored one goal. Wisconsin's
goal came with 3:00 left and the game was alredy out of reach.

The game was definitely dissappointing for me. Not as close or cleanly played
as some recent Minn-Wis encounters. Wis really missed their playmaker
MacDonald(knee injury) and Hill(see below) their best offensive defenseman.
(Minn was missing a top forwrd also, Johnson?). Anyway Minn is as usual
the team with the best overall speed (IMHO) in the league.

The Sean Hill Saga
------------------
Hill was given a two game suspension by the three-man WCHA Executive Committee
(faculty rep from ND, faculty rep from NMich and athletic director from UMD)
for his hit on Denver's Mike Aikens last weekend. By the way the referee was
Mark Rudolph for the Wis-Denver series.
This was announced Friday morning. The UW athletic director said an appeal
would be filed. Thus Hill would play this weekend. Then an hour before
game time coach Jeff Sauer decided Hill/UW would accept the penalty. So Hill
is sitting out for the weekend.

Hope that gets thing up to date. Sorry about lack of stats/details for
the game but I don't have a newspaper handy.
