Have college hockey and loud bands come in unison? In some places, the
answer is yes. I've heard a lot of complaints from some people who were
around for the games up here during xmas break; the complaints were that
it was SO quiet. I think that if you are going to sit in an area near
the pepband (either), that's part of what you have to deal with. If you
don't want to deal with the noise, don't sit there; sit somewhere else.
If you can't sit somewhere else, then you have to choose: either deal
with it or don't come.
 
I'm sorry if this sounds a bit impolite but one of the exciting things
about college athletics that separates it from high school and other levels
is the incredible (vocal) enthusiasm.
 
I've rarely been to a pro or high school hockey game which has had
the enthusiasm of your typical Clarkson game. That's a large part of
why college hockey is so exciting. It's not exciting because fans
sit on their hands and act like they're at an opera.
 
Ask the players if they'd like home fans to act like they're at an
opera.
 
I do think that there are certain standards by which any fans must act.
You shouldn't throw things onto the ice, for example. But those standards
must apply equal to all fans, not just a selected few.
