Concerning the possibility that Union might ban visiting pep bands from
coming to Achilles Rink as a group:

While Union certainly has the right to set an policy it so chooses,
I, as a fan, don't like it. I think that visiting pep bands add to the
excitement of the game and pumps up the adrenaline of both groups. I know
that probably the most pumped up game Clarkson had last year was our
win over Cornell with their Pep band in attendance. I don't think we would
have been AS loud or AS psyched up if we weren't trying to outdo the the Cornell
bozos.. I mean, band. As far as it being to loud and too obnoxious, welcome
to college hockey. The college hockey atmosphere is more exciting and more
electric than any other level of hockey because of the enthusiasm. That
is something that (if you're lucky) goes with the territory. It is what
separates college hockey from other levels of hockey. I know that most adults
prefer a "quiet" rink and like to sit on their hands but it is the students
which lend the enthusiasm and their soul to their team.

Clarkson is typically one of the loudest arenas in the ECAC but over break,
with no students, it was practically a mortuary. SLU is usually pretty loud
but it was so silent during the Clarkson-SLU game (before SLU students returned)
that when my friend yelled something at Spagnoletti (SLU goalie), it was like
the only noise in the whole arena.

Bands add to the overall atmosphere of college hockey and I hope Union does
not ban any like UVM banned Clarkson's pep band.

It's a hockey game not the opera.
