I can even remeber the breakdown by periods for this one:

SLU 0 1 4 - 5
Cornell 0 0 0 - 0

In a rematch of last year's ECAC championship game, the Saints handed
Cornell a 5-0 loss at Appleton Arena. The game was alot closer than
the score would indicate. Cornell was able to play the defensive
battle they prefer and made the Saints play their game for two
periods. The Big Red had most of the good opportunities in the first,
but were a step too slow and didn't get the shots off. The Saints
opened the scoring midway through the 2nd on a power play goal by
defenseman Ted Beattie, who was standing point blank at the top of
the crease and slid a nice pass from Spencer Meany pass a helpless
Andy Bandurski.

In the third, the Big Red appeared to have run out of gas from
trying to outskate the Saints. SLU capitalized twice in the
first two minutes to put the game away. Mike Allain, who was
carried out of the Boston Garden on a stretcher in last year's
final, was hauled down by a Cornell defender while referee Tim
McConaghy watched passively. When Allain got up and checked a
Red skater into the boards, he was rewarded with a trip to the
sin bin. Needless to say, this was upsetting to the fans and
the players as well. Saints captian Greg Carvel promptly responded
with a breakaway walking in on Bandurski for the Saints first
short-handed goal of the season. John Roderick finished the
scoring when the Red lost control of the puck in their own zone
and the Saint defender found himslef with a clean shot at the
upper corner of the net.

The win gives the Saints their first shoutout of the season,
also the first shoutout for senior goaltender Brady Giroux,
who is now 3-0 on the season. Former Saint player and assistant
coach Don Vaughn returns to Appleton tomorrow night in charge
behind the Colgate bench.
