According to the Star Tribune article, Lucia confirmed that Minnesota will
still remain mostly an all Minnesota team. He also said, recruiting out of
state would be taken more seriously, making an example of recruiting out of
the BOSTON area.
 
He made a point also of saying, he couldn't wait to put on his MINNESOTA
jacket and go out into the area and recruit. He said, that this was a dream
he never thought he'd aspire to. It was very clear, he was THRILLED. He
referred to MINNESOTA as the finest place in the country to play, school,
facilities and program.
 
Also, Toby Petersen had several paragraphs on coach Lucia and Toby's
recruitment both to the U and CC. Toby's comments regarding coaching styles
suggested that Lucia KNOWS how to handle each player. He sounds far from a
control freak or mind messer. He sounds like a player's coach. From the
article one surmises that Toby's Minnesota departure was to a great extent
due to coaching.
 
I think Minnesota will do what they have to do to elevate the program and put
together a more diverse roster. Keep in mind that Minnesota is a very
progressive state. Recruitment will become more complicated (costly) of
course. Hey, they've got Woog to come up with the bucks now.
