Most of the discussion of accidental pucks in the crowd has focused on
the end seats, behind the nets.
 
A few weeks ago, Bill Howard (UW goalie coach and radio commentator)
mentioned the idea of putting up "high" glass all the way around the
rink, not just behind the nets. This does nothing for high deflections
of shots, but will keep the (usually lower) too-high-off-the-glass
clearing pass in the rink. He also mentioned that he didn't think it
would happen at the Coliseum, since it would cost money...
 
Apparently some rinks have the "high glass" all the way around.
 
Several questions:
 
    - what do the rules say about the height of the glass ?
 
    - what rinks have the "high glass" everywhere ?
 
    - what effect on the actual game would this have ?
 
    - what effect on the atmosphere of the games would this have?
      It seems to me it would isolate the players from the crowd
      (and vice-versa) a lot more than they are now.
