Dead animals... how gross. Of course, there are some of us who might
consider it wholly appropriate to toss a dead zebra on the ice, or at least a
mangled plastic zebra with THICK eyeglasses (-: ( smiley for the humor
impaired)

I know we shouldn't be posting me toos, but one potential positive effect might
be the publication of TCHCR in a national paper. Kudos to mike m, wayne, and
many otheres for their insightful comments.

Thanks to Mike Machnik for his directions to merrimack... i did find them
easy to follow, and meeting other list membewrs in the flesh is always a
pleasure. His reviews of the USAFA - Merrimack games were right on, and I
was hoping to see his reports on the northeastern games.

USAFA gave away the 1/3 game. They opened up a 2 goal lead in the first
period, and then fell into their usual inability to score with the man
advantage and defend while shorthanded. They gave up two power play goals
in the second, and you could see their frustration mounting. They gave up a
quick goal early in the third, and then another one, and it was all over but
the shouting.

USAFA was outplayed in the 1/4 game, but they were again the victim of
absolutely horrid officiating by referee P Smith who seemed to call the game
very one sided, and any time Air Force scored, there was a penalty to them
within the next minute or so. Eric Rice was the victim of two particularly
outrageous penalties in the pivotal first period.

My week on the east coast was reasonable. I had a pleasant time with my
sister, met some more USAFA team member parents, some former players, met a few
HOCKEY-L people, saw some good hockey, and saw that officiating back east is
no worse nor better than out here (two good jobs out of 4 games is about par)

I'm looking forward to getting to west point and burlington and welcoming at
least one HOCKEY-L member from Cornell. By the by, I'm not independently
wealthy, but am just using up all my frequent flier bonuses before they
expire.
