BU played eight overtime games in both 1985-86 and 1986-87. While
that is not near the record for overtime games in a season, I did
notice another fact of interest. In both seasons the Terriers played
and won three consecutive overtime games in a row.

During the 1985-86 season, the Terriers played and won three
consecutive overtime games in a five day period. BU first beat NU
5-4, at Matthews Arena 1:43 into overtime on 14 January and then
played back-to-back overtime games against Northern Michigan at
Walter Brown Arena on 17 and 18 January. In the first game against
the Wildcats, the Terriers tied it up with 4:32 to play in the third,
then won the game 7:48 into overtime.

The next evening was even more wild, as a 2-2 game after two periods
turned into a shootout, as each team scored 5 goals in the third.
NMU lead 7-5 with just 2:43 remaining in the third when Mike Kelfer
scored to make it 7-6 and just a minute later Scott Young tied the
game, sending it into overtime. Bu won it just 23 seconds into
overtime as Jay Octeau got the game winner.

The following season, 1986-87, the Terriers again played and won
three consecutive overtime games, this time in a seven day period.
The Terriers won 1987 Beanpot on 9 February 1987 as Mike Kelfer
scored the game winner 5:28 into overtime. The following Thursday,
12 February, the Terriers hosted Providence College at Walter Brown
Arena, winning at 3:21 of overtime. Then on Sunday, 15 February, the
Terriers traveled to Schneider Arena, where they defeated host
Providence College at 6:23 of overtime.

So, what is the most number of consecutive overtime games played and
consecutive overtime games played and won? I know that the Lakers
played and won three consecutive overtime games in the NCAA
tournament in 1994. What about othe teams or longer streaks?
