While shopping for presents for my groomsmen last night, I came across,
you guessed it, CERAMIC DALMATIONS. It is not every day that a grown
man cracks up laughing in the home section of a Lion's store, so I got
a few weird looks.

Anyway, since everyone seems to be disgusted with the polls, now would
be a good time to mention The College Hockey Computer Rating. It is not
a poll, but a rating. I define a poll as a collection of expert
opinions whereas a rating is a mathematical evaluation. I, too, became
totally unhappy with the regionalism, unfairness, apparent ignorance,
biases, (should I add more anti-poll verbals?) etc. of the polls, so I
made TCHCR.

TCHCR does not work like a poll at all. I type all the scores into
my computer, assign a value to each game, and then do some fancy
matrix math on the data. Out pops the rating.

This is the third year for TCHCR. Based on feedback from this list, and
others, I have made some improvements over last year's rating. I'll
send out a preview tonight and ask for more feedback from you all. The
rating itself won't be very interesting because of the few games
played, but I'll send it out for your review anyway.
