Minnesota Gophers' coaching records, from the Gophers' game program:
	1922/3 I.D. MacDonald 10- 1- 1	.875
	1923/4 - 1929/30	Emil Iverson 70- 20-13	.743
	1930/1 - 1934/5	Frank Pond 46- 21- 4	.676
	1935/6 - 1946/7	Larry Armstrong	125- 54-11	.687
	1947/8 - 1951/2	Doc Romnes 53- 59- 0 .473
	1955/6 March Ryman 16- 12- 1	.569
	1952/3 - 1965/6	John Mariucci	199-137-18	.588
	1966/7 - 1971/2	Glen Sonmor 79- 81- 6	.494
	1971/2 Ken Yackel, Sr. 7- 17- 0	.292
	1972/3 - 1978/9 Herb Brooks	167- 99-18	.620
	1979/80 - 1984/5 Brad Buetow	171- 75- 8	.689
	1985/6 - 1990/1 Doug Woog	195- 74-11	.716
Wooger's record so far this year is 4-4-0, so he is tied with "the legendary
John Mariucci" for most wins for a Gopher coach at 199, with a much better
winning percentage -- not that they're comparable; I don't think Mariucci
was able to award hockey scholarships for much of his tenure, although some
of his opponents did. Hopefully Woog will be able to reach that milestone
Friday night at Mariucci! Then maybe they'll have to name the new arena
Woog Arena instead of Mariucci! :-) :-) (Smileys meant as a disclaimer:
I don't want to start any week-long ranting and raving on the list. I don't
actually believe they will or should do this.)

As for the Gophs' absence from the Top 10, well, no panic here YET. They've
played a lot of road games while adjusting to the new officiating and
breaking in some new forwards. The number of goals they're giving up with
their relatively experienced defensive corps is quite a concern, though.
