The box score from Saturday night's game was in the Daily this morning and I
have counted the penalties up for the record. There were 12 penalties called
in the first period, five penalties called in the second and six penalties
called in the third. Let's see...that makes 23 penalties for the game!
St Cloud State had 11 for 22 minutes, and the Gophers had 12 for 24 minutes.

Only FIVE of these penalties were the "new emphasis" penalties. We had three
cross-checking penalties, two for boarding, three for high sticking, and
three for tripping. The others were the assorted usual stuff. The Ref did a
pretty good job of keeping order, especially towards the end when the Huskies
 were growing very frustrated.

I was not so delighted to read in the weekend mail that THE INFAMOUS Buzz
Christiansen is still a WCHA referee. =:-O Let's hope he stays out of
 Mariucci as much as possible.

Our Freshmen, Darby Hendricksen and Steve Magnusson are really making a
remarkable transition, and fitting right in! Other notable Freshmen are
"Big" Jed Fiebelkorn (he's 6'4") and Justin McHugh.

I have a question for everyone out there:

Do your coaches make a practice of shaking hands with all the opposing
players at the end of the game? Coach Woog and his assistants make an
effort to do this after EVERY series. I noticed that the SCSU coach
Craig Dahl did not do this Saturday night and was wondering about this.

That's all there is from MinneSNOWta!
