Let's see, it has been one week since BU's triumph over Maine for the
national title. I knew it wouldn't take long for the Maine fans to start
bashing BU!! :)

[log in to unmask] (John Forsyth) writes:
<<I just hope that for the sake of Mr. Joubert and his
school that BU's books are in better order than Maine's were because the
NC$$ will be coming soon to a theater near you...

...I'm just thankful the NC$$ doesn't allow BU players to set their policy,
because Maine would have faced the death penalty in 1987 while they were
winning 11 in a row over the Terriers.

And your comments are any better than Joubert's???? If you want to criticize
him, don't stoop to (what you percieve to be) his level.

[log in to unmask] (Deron Treadwell) writes:
<<It is unfortunate that Mr. Joubert did say that as it is comments like this
that make me wonder why I bothered to gain so much respect for Boston
University over the Championship weekend. I actually watched the tape,
watched BU win with class, and actually thought positively about Jack
Parker. This comment is very unfortunate.

I usually respect you as one that even as a staunch Maine fan, tries to be as
unbiased as possible. I think you are WAY overreacting to Joubert's comment.
This quote was included in explaining the Maine-BU rivalry, which we
know is VERY intense. This remark pales to others I have read on both sides.
The Maine Telegraph(?) writer makes it seem as if there was an Oliver Stone
like conspiracy by the BU players to pamper Maine publicly and then to bash
them after the game is over. I remember reading a few quotes that were
positive towards Maine after the game is over.

I find *at least* as disturbing the remarks in SI about Maine accusing BU of
somehow having "led" a movement to keep Maine out of the HE playoffs last year.
Also, accusing BU of sending a FAX to the NCAA saying that it was *illegal*
for college players to receive money from the US Olympic Committee for playing
in the Olympics. Chris Imes had to return his money. OK, Maine fans, would
you have rather had this "come out" later in the season, have Chris Imes
ruled ineligible, and then have another bunch of games forfeited? I don't
think so.

Also, Shawn Walsh had a comment. I don't have the article here, but it was
something like, "We were getting on the bus to BU when we heard that one."
Very sneaky Shawn! He's not directly implicating BU, but it seems obvious
that he is indirectly implicating them. This is just as bad as Joubert's
comment.

I guess my point is that face it, it is a fierce rivalry. There is no "good"
or "evil" side. Both sides are going to say things that pi** off the other
side. We just have to live with it and hope that our team wins on the ice.

We BU fans have been gracious enough not to bash Maine after the championship
game although I'm sure many of us are just itching to do!! :) It just sounds
like sour grapes to me.
