Part 2 including a game recap and reviews of both Team USA and BU will
be forthcoming on Monday after I write it up on Sunday.

Also look for complete Team USA statistics and all scores through the
BC game in a separate posting on Monday.

In just a few words, I was very impressed with BU considering the huge
losses to graduation, the Olympics and NHL that the Terriers have
suffered. They weren't given much by Team USA but took advantage of
their opportunities. Defensively, Cashman was solid in net, and so were
his freshman relievers who split the last half of the game. Dion led a
set of defense corps who won't do much offensively but are going to help
out the netminder very well. The forwards are mostly unproven except
for Sacco, the Bavises, and Koskimaki, but they used their size advantage
on USA very well, especially in their own end. Parker looks to have done
another immensively fine job of recruiting to avert what could have been
labeled as a rebuilding year, in contrast to his opponents up on Chestnut
Hill.

USA led with lines made up completely of BU and BC players, and they were
effective in generating quality chances as well as playing well in the
neutral zone. USA's defense is going to be counted on to play just that,
and Keczmer and Pitlick in particular held their positions and impressed
me with their willingness to take the body and protect Kuntar. Kuntar
wasn't tested for much of the game but can't be faulted on 3 of the 4
Terrier goals.

I think the score is reflective of the fact that BU used its size well
against Team USA and prevented them from turning it into a wide-open
game, which would have been clearly to USA's favor. Peterson was vastly
outcoached by Parker, who seemed to have his troops in perfect mental and
physical shape to play this game despite the fact that it was BU's first
scrimmage against another team and USA was playing its 21st game against
actual outside competition.

I guess that was more than a few words.
