My experiences are 99.9% with Eastern Colleges, 99% of that with
Hockey East, and I wondering just how common it is to sieve out west.
Everybody seems so shocked by it. It is a commonplace in HE, and schools
even have sieve chants. UNH fans for example spin thier arms in the air
and let out a "sieve" for each goal scored. BU has it's well knows
Sievs/Goalie double sided banner that they hang from the balcony at
Walter Brown. In fact, a friend of mine who play at Colgate said of
UMass' rookie fans that it was good to see so many, and so many loud ones
but "they don't sieve." After a bunch of roadtripping BU fans did it to
Regan, a friend of mine from New Jersey asked me what the heck that meant.
It's commonplace here, I guess what I'm wondering is how foreign
is it to the CCHA and WCHA.
