Although UNH has been dismissed from the HE playoffs, I fortunately can still
turn my thoughts to the NCAA's. It appears quite certain that at least one
"deserving" team will be denied a bid because 2 teams from ECAC must go.
Clearly Clarkson is in and, I guess, the other finalist in the ECAC
tournament. Northeastern, currently #12, will definitely be victimized. In
addition, if either Providence or Lowell wins the HE playoff, it is also
quite certain that the 7th western team (East seed #6) will be denied a bid.
This seems a bit unfair and illogical. Is there any chance that the criteria
will change for next year to allow teams which have played at the highest
level over the whole year the right to compete for the national championship?
Isn't that what the regular season is for?
