Dartmouth used to be the Indians (in the 1700s when the school was founded, it
was primarily to educate Native Americans)
 
But alas, the Dartmouth Indians became the Dartmouth Big Green.
 
Some alumni and "purists" still refer to the athletic teams as the Dartmouth
Indians.
