The official numbers on the shots were 45-35 in favor of RPI. This includes
a 9-1 advantage for Clarkson in the OT period. Hmm....

While we're on the subject of Clarkson-RPI, Friday's Albany Times Union
had an article written by Bob Croce about the rivalry. The idea of the
article (in my mind) apparently hinted at the fact that Clarkson was
looking past Union to RPI. Croce mentioned that while Clarkson coach
Mark Morris will be giving his "one game at a time" speech, how can he
not be thinking about RPI?

I'm not sure what Croce was implying by this. Yes, Clarkson has lost their
last 4 to RPI, one of the Golden Knights' biggest rivals. Thus, they'd love
to beat RPI at home and on national TV. But, IMO, how could Morris (who was
an assistant at Union College under Charlie Morrison in the '84-'85
season in which Union won the ECAC Div II West Championship and placed
third in the NCAA playoffs) not be looking at Union? I've said it about 50
times that Union is better than their record implies. I think Morris should
know that by now, seeing how Friday night's game went and how Union pasted
St. Lawrence on Saturday.

Point being that Croce's article seems a little outrageous. Maybe he was
speaking the truth in that Clarkson was REALLY looking forward to the
meeting with RPI. However, I don't think Croce (or anybody for that matter!)
should assume that one team is looking past one opponent to another. As
long as Morris has been at Clarkson, I've seen a class act as far as playing
and coaching goes. Sure, Morris tends to throw a tantrum now & then, but
what coach doesn't?

Just my .02.....

Disclaimer: Yes, I'm a Union fan, too. But I think many would agree with me
in that Union is a much better team than people have given them
credit for this year. This wasn't a defense of Union just because
            I'm a Dutchmen fan.
