   Jennifer Hefner '97 (West Hartford, Conn.) scored two goals and added an
assist to lead Middlebury College (5-7 overall, 1-7 ECAC) to its first
ECAC Women's Ice Hockey League victory of the season in a 6-0 shutout of
Bowdoin College (1-11 overall, 0-9 ECAC). The game was played Saturday
afternoon in Bowdoin's Dayton Arena.
   Caryn Sheftel '95 (Hingham, Mass.), Virginia Kreitler '98 (Summit,
N.J.), Whitney Parks '97 (Syosset, N.Y.), and Kelly Hefner '95 (West
Hartford, Conn.) scored the other Middlebury goals in the contest.
   Christy Picard '96 (Milton, Ontario) and Phuket Rubel '98 (Lyme,
N.H.) combined for 13 saves and the Panthers' second shutout of the
season. Dagan Klein '95 (New York, N.Y.) made 33 saves in two periods
before being relieved by Sasha Ballen '96 (Wynnewood, Pa.) for the third
period.
   Middlebury snapped a four-game losing streak with the win, while
the Polar Bears' losing streak was extended to 11 games. Middlebury will
host Dartmouth College on January 25, while Bowdoin travels to Boston
College on January 24.
