Union opened its league season with a 3-2 win over St. Lawrence
tonight at Achilles. Freshman goalie Kris Mayotte was the star of the
game. He was sharp pretty much all night, and made an excellent glove
save in the final minute to preserve the win. That was the best of
his 22 saves. Union got goals from Marc Neron, Jordan Webb, and Kris
Goodjohn. Goodjohn's goal came when he won a faceoff back to Jason
Kean. Kean fired it on net and Goodjohn got a piece of it as it
trickled through SLU goalie Mike McKenna for the eventual game-winner.

Union had leads of 2-0 and 3-1. St. Lawrence closed to within 1 with
about 3 minutes left, and St. Lawrence had their chances to tie after
that.

Union's special teams got the job done, killing all 4 Saints power
plays, and scoring on two of their four chances.

Union is 1-0 in the ECAC, 3-3-2 overall. Clarkson visits Achilles
Rink on Saturday night.
