Well, I didn't see either game (from the attendance figures, not too many
folks did), but judging from the writeups and the box scores in USCHO, looks
like it was (1) a goalie playing out of his mind and (2) "winning one for
the Gipper."
The shots on goal for the two games were not very different, Ottawa getting
outshot by 4x - 2x both games. Ottawa used different goalies in the two
games. The coach had to leave before the first game because his father is
gravely ill; the motional lift from a situation like that often fade after
one game.
While it may not be fun to be UConn, I don't know that I'd want to be UML
either. There's a lot of pressure on them now. A loss to, or even a close
game with, an MAAC team coming on the heels of a loss like this would look
really bad.
