Sorry guys for repeating myself on USCHO, the Cornell Hockey Discussion
Forum, and now here, but here goes.

My major concern about the laser pointer incident is as follows. If
Cornell had lost, the laser pointer would have been a major issue for
the rest of the season. The Cornell team and its fans would have been
troubled, to say the least, that a fan had unfairly influenced the
outcome of the game. The rest of the college hockey community would
most likely have flogged Cornell as being sore losers, looking for
excuses for their struggling team.

Fortunately for Cornell, Elliott played his game, with or without the
distraction. And Cornell was able to pull off a come-from-behind win.

Some are using the argument that every school has "bad" fans. I
completely agree, but I think this issue goes beyond just debating which
school has "classless fans;" this incident has dire implications on the
game itself.
